What is deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage is a slow, firm massage that reaches the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. This guide explains how it works.

Deep tissue massage explained
The therapist uses slow strokes and sustained pressure with the thumbs, knuckles, forearm or elbow to reach deeper muscles such as those beside the spine, the glutes and the rotator cuff. Because the pressure is slow, the muscle has time to soften rather than guard against it.

Reviews
What is deep tissue massage? reviews
I chanced on James through a friend's referral just before I was to be sent for surgery through the NHS. He was a breath of fresh air in terms of how he assessed and treated the injury.
I had physio, treatments, sports massage, and scans from professional sports clubs. Once I met James, it was literally the first session, there was such a release. As I moved, I could feel zero pulling, like the whole area just opened up.

Questions
What is deep tissue massage?: questions answered
Is deep tissue massage the same as sports massage?
They overlap. Sports massage is planned around training; deep tissue focuses on deep, long standing tension.
Does it break up knots?
Slow pressure helps tight spots soften. Break up describes the feeling more than what happens in the tissue.
What should I wear?
Underwear or shorts. You are covered with towels throughout.
